no issue for me, both with http or https, desktop or mobile

I can't get past "loading attachments" on chrome mobile. But remember having the same issue on firefox desktop too 🤔

NB: it reads "Loading attachments..." where thumbnails should have appeared.

The issue appears only on mobile or both on mobile and desktop?

Same on mobile or desktop for me, chrome on mobile, firefox on desktop.

Maybe something to do with number of images uploaded ?

Chrome 130.0.6723.92 on Windows 11 here.

The UX is as described by the others i.e. there's a "Loading attachments..." message but the images are never loaded.

Fortunately the browser console says something about it.
For instance:

3285986/#comment17535386:1 Mixed Content: The page at 'https://pignolefixe.microcosm.app/huddles/3285986/#comment17535386' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure XMLHttpRequest endpoint 'http://pignolefixe.microcosm.app/comments/17535386/attachments/'. This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS.

So "simply" because the forum tries to load not secured content ? 😱

So by trying to enforce HTTPS connections the issue should be fixed.

This is good information, and I think I have fixed it.

The bug has always existed, but recent versions of Chrome, depending on settings, appears to behave differently than in the past.

Within https://pignolefixe.microcosm.app/static/js/simpleEditor.js , on line 364, there is:

url : this.$el.attr('data-source') + "attachments"

The lack of a trailing slash, triggers the Django web server to redirect to add the slash... that redirect from Django is insecure.

The fix is this:

url : this.$el.attr('data-source') + "attachments/"

Unfortunately the file is likely cached by your browser... I've emptied every cache that I have control of, but it will take a while for it to show as browsers cache it.

Cleared the cache and that works!
