Jeff : Good eye. Well, I basically did it for whimsical reasons, and I originally used the brifter for shifting, but the down tube mounted lever works great - I mean, a front derailleur shift is pretty straightforward, correct?
I left the complete brifter in place because I wanted to keep the same lever bodies for the look and feel. Didn't remove the shifting bits because it would've been more hassle than it was worth.
